Why we only stock the trikes
Emojo makes two-wheeled bikes as well. We do not carry them, because Pedego, Murf and Urtopia already cover that ground better for the riding people actually do here.
What Emojo does better than anyone else we have dealt with is three wheels. So that is what we stock: the whole trike range, from the Dexter up to the Bison Pro, with the Caddy Pro in the middle doing most of the work.
The conversation that happens most often
A surprising number of people walk in having already decided they are finished with cycling. Usually it is balance — a fall, a hip, a scare on a group ride, or simply the recognition that starting and stopping is not as easy as it was. They have quietly concluded that riding is something they used to do.
Trikes end that conversation. You cannot fall over at a stop light. You can put a full grocery run in the back. You can ride to the beach and back with no more athletic commitment than sitting down. We have sold trikes to riders in their eighties who are now out five days a week, and that is not a sales line — it is the single most consistent pattern in our trike customers.
What actually separates the models
Two things, and neither is the motor.
Brakes. Hydraulic discs on the Caddy Pro and Bison Pro, cable on the rest. On a loaded trike carrying a rider and a week of shopping, this is the difference that matters most.
Tire width. Wider tires are more stable through a turn and far more forgiving on sand and broken pavement. On three wheels the contact patch is doing work that leaning does on a bicycle.
Everything else — range, top speed, basket size — varies less between models than the price suggests.
Two things to know before you buy one
Trikes are wider than bikes. Measure your garage door and the space you plan to keep it in. This catches people out far more often than price does, and it is the reason the compact Dexter exists.
They steer, they do not lean. For about four minutes this feels wrong. Then it stops being something you think about. Those four minutes are the whole reason we keep one charged and ready — nobody has ever decided about a trike from a photograph.
We will also bring it to you. Trikes are the hardest thing in the shop to transport, so for a lot of our trike customers, delivery is not a convenience — it is what makes the purchase possible at all.
