No judgement, no lecture
You bought it online.
We are still your shop.
A good share of the bikes on our stand came from a website. We would far rather you rode a properly built bike than a badly built one — so bring it in, box and all.
The support gap nobody mentions at checkout
Direct-to-consumer e-bikes are often genuinely good value. The catch is not the bike, it is what happens afterwards. When something goes wrong, your options are a support ticket, a request for photographs, and a conversation with somebody several time zones away who cannot see the bike, hear the noise, or feel the play in the bearing.
Meanwhile the bike is in your garage and you are not riding it.
That gap is where we come in. We are not competing with the price you paid — that transaction is done, and it is fine. We are the part the website could not sell you.
What we routinely find in a box
Bikes ship roughly 80 percent assembled. The remaining 20 percent is, inconveniently, the part that stops you and holds you on. In practice, on almost every box bike:
- Brake rotors bent in transit. Very common, and it produces the rubbing noise everyone assumes is normal. It is not.
- Wheels that were never properly tensioned. Factory wheels are built fast. Loose spokes mean a wheel that goes out of true within a month.
- Bolts at the wrong torque. Stem, seatpost and rotor bolts torqued by whoever packed the box, using no torque wrench.
- Disc brakes never aligned. Alignment is a five-minute job that nobody does before shipping.
- Gears never indexed. Shipped roughly close, which is not the same as correct.
None of these are exotic faults. All of them are the difference between a bike that is fine and a bike that is fine right up until it is not.
What we do about it
Full assembly from the box, every safety-critical bolt torqued to specification, wheels trued and tensioned, brakes aligned and bedded in, gears indexed, electrical system function-checked, and a road test. Then we walk you through how your specific bike works — the display, the assist levels, the charging behavior, and what the noises it makes are supposed to sound like.
Flat rate, quoted before we start.
Brands through our door regularly
If it is an e-bike, we have probably had one apart

Questions
Will you refuse to work on my bike because I did not buy it here?
No. That policy exists at some shops and we think it is short-sighted. You are a rider with a bike that needs attention, and we would rather be the shop you trust for the next ten years than punish you over where you clicked "buy".
What if you cannot get parts for my brand?
Then we will tell you early, before you have spent money finding out slowly. Generic parts — brakes, tires, cables, bearings, chains — are almost always available. Proprietary controllers, displays and batteries depend on whether the manufacturer still exists.
How much does assembly cost?
A flat rate, quoted before we start, so there are no surprises. Call or text with your brand and model and we will give you the number.
Can you check a bike I already assembled myself?
Yes, and it is worth doing. A safety inspection catches the things that are easy to miss — rotor alignment, spoke tension, and bolts that were never torqued to spec.
And when you are ready for your next bike
No pressure at all — but when the time comes, you will be able to ride six brands in one visit before spending anything. That is the part a website genuinely cannot do.
Bring us the box
Tell us the brand and model and we will quote assembly or service before you come in. Photos by text are welcome and usually speed things up.
